Day 4 and 5; June 6th and 7th

Day 4 was our last day in Cortez, Colorado so all we did was prepare to leave. I also did laundry.
Day 5 we head out for Bryce Canyon, Utah. We made a side trip to New Mexico to visit Four Corners. I remember going there when I was little. It has changed a lot. Here are the boys standing in the middle of all four states. If you don't know the four states they are New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah. The boys each got a buffalo arrowhead necklace and I got some turquoise earrings. Not all the shops were open because I was hoping to also get a Navajo blanket, but no luck. I also don't remember having to pay to get in but that is okay this is something I wanted the boys to see. We went on to Bryce Canyon after our visit here. More on that tomorrow.

Day 3- June 5th continue Hovenweep Monument

Here was our second site seeing for the day. It has gotten hotter. These are only a part of the ruins we saw. I tried to get the names with the ruins so you can have an idea of what you are suppose to be seeing. David also took pictures with Mike's camera but I haven't down loaded them. We took the same pictures.

4th of July

I will get back to our vacation but I wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. We actually celebrated on the 2nd because Mike has to work today. We had Mike's youngest sister and her family come over to celebrate with us. It wasn't anything big but just a time to get together and enjoy each others company. Mike received a turkey fryer for Christmas a couple years ago from all the kids and he likes to deep fry chicken. He is still learning and so this year the legs were done and the thighs we had to bake a little longer in the oven. The skin was extremely dark and crisp but the meat was tender because we did soak the chicken overnight in a buttermilk mixture. He will keep trying and we will keep eating his errors.
Today we will most likely just hang around the house and get a few things done.
Have a Happy 4th.

Day 3- June 5 Lowry Ruins in Colorado

These are only part of the pictures that we took at the ruins in Colorado. If you were wondering Aryan is wearing a hat because he burns really bad. When we arrived at the ruins it was nice but by the time we left it was starting to get hot. After here we went to another ruin site which I will post tomorrow hopefully.

June 4th- day 2

Boys being funny. I told them to stand by the sign and this is what they did.

A good picture.

Didn't get through the whole hike. It was a 5 mile hike. The distance wasn't the problem it was the heat. It was HOT.

Just missed the guided tour.
We will have to go back the Mesa Verde Monument because we didn't get through it. There is a whole lot to see and we didn't even put a dent into it.

Full view of the campground. Yes we have a trailer. Mike and I are getting to old to sleep on the ground. This is in Cortez, Colorado. We didn't do anything but drive on this day. On the trip there we saw a buffalo ranch. I was excited to see one. I haven't seen one before. More tomorrow on our visit to Mesa Verde National Monument.

Last Day of school

The last day wasn't very long for the boys. Aryan received a certificate for making the merit roll all year. The merit roll is making a 3.0-3.49 GPA. His GPA was a 3.29

Even though David was homeschool he also received a certificate from his teacher. He has worked hard this year and has made some head way with his learning disability. He will be going to public school next year. He went through a lot of testing and will be getting help in the school. We plan on keeping his teacher he had to help him with his school work.

Now we are getting ready for our long awaited vacation.
