Connecticut trip

After De Smet we headed for Connecticut where our daughter Tara lives. It took us two days to get there. I don't have many photos for this part of the trip. We just wanted to spend time with her since she lives so far away. The photos below are when we went to te sound since the boys have never been to a beach.

We went to several independent bookstores and also Barnes and Noble. Their Barnes and Noble is bigger than ours here in Colorado. I did a book haul video with Tara for her channel. I will link it below.

This was fun. I am so glad we were able to go. We were there for about 6 days and then we headed to Ohio to help our son Michael move back to Utah. I don't have any pictures of that trip.

We were gone about 21 days and were glad that we went even though we didn't get everything done we wanted to do but we did get to spend time with family which is important.

De Smet, South Dakota Visit

After we were done visiting Custer we headed to DE Smet. This a place I have wanted to visit for awhile. For those who don't know me I am a huge Little House fan. This is one of the place she grew up. I wasn't able to see everything because I had my husband and my two teenage sons who got bored after awhile. I was able to see most of the things though but this means I need to go back with my girls.

The place we visited was the cemetery. I did miss the graves of Grace and her husband.

This is Charles Ingalls head stone. It is so faded.
This is the original house that has been moved to this location for easy tours.

The bedroom off the front room.

You weren't allowed to go upstairs but they had a mirror for you to see how it was set up. The camera didn't take a very good picture but my phone did so I will have it on Instagram with a link to this blog.

This organ was in the front room. The organ was the one at the church they went to.
The what knot that was made.

This is the original chalkboard.

The Brewster school. Sorry that it isn't a good picture but it was dark in there.

This is the home that Laura never lived in but her parents and sister Mary did.

This cupboard Pa (Charles made)

I didn't get to go to the original homestead because the other people in my party have had enough. I would like to be able to go back and visit the homestead along with Laura and Almanzo's homestead. I had a blast and can't wait to go back and to finish seeing the rest of her sites.

Custer South Dakota Trip

It has been a while since I have posted anything and I am sorry. I decided to take a break and just get refocused. We also went on vacation even with Covid-19 happening. So the first one I will write about is the trip we took to Custer, South Dakota. This is the first time that the boys and myself have been here and it was great. There are a lot of pictures for you to enjoy.

South Dakota is beautiful and flat. We took a scenic road to go to see Mount Rushmore. The one thing we weren't able to pictures of were the Buffalo's there wasn't a safe place to pull over and they were down in the meadow.

You can barely see them but there are deer in this picture.
Here is a better photo.
This is one of the tunnels we went through to get to Mount Rushmore.
It is hard to see but here is a picture of Mount Rushmore.

Another photo of Mount Rushmore.

Another rock tunnel.

The boys at our state.
The boys at the state of their birth.
The boys and Mount Rushmore.

While we were in the area we wanted to visit some caves but sadly they were closed. We also went to Crazy horse but my pictures didn't turn out but I did get a couple on my phone so you will be able to see them if you follow me on Instagram.

We had a great time and glad to be able to go to some places this summer.
